Event Description: Join KB Brookins and Anastacia-Reneé for a conversation on queerness, anti-Blackness and the white gaze, politics of the body, and finding freedom through poetry. In Freedom House, follow Brookins through “rooms” as they chronicle their transition, explore climate change and afrofuturism, and deftly move through concepts and questions in a formally diverse collection of poems. In Side Notes from the Archivist, Reneé elevates the enduring power of Black culture through a funkadelic feminist lens, darting through reflections of iconic images and critiques of systemic oppression with a genre-crossing, captivating poetry collection.
